    Lost Faith

Shot in Florida, this Christian SOV action epic from director/writer/producer/star (and Tim Ritter associate) Joel D Wynkoop features plenty of roundhouses and probably even more yelling. As martial arts prodigy "Steve Nekoda," Wynkoop yells at the cops who don't do anything after his wife is kidnapped, screams at the toothless gang who mistake him for a former member, and howls in rage at The Master, the head of a white slave ring who Nekoda must face in the climax. Hijacked to Hell

An action-packed Indonesian remake of WAGES OF FEAR? Not quite, but this is as close as it gets, with John Phillip Law, local leading man Barry Prima and (Captain Kronos himself) Horst Janson hired to transport a goddamn giant laser cannon across the country to free trapped miners. Forrest Gump

A saccharine, self-mythologizing piece of American agit-prop. Interesting how this borrows a few things from Back to the Future, as Gump plays a role in American historical events of the 1960s through the 80s, but it’s borderline insulting in its depiction of the other “normal” people in his life who, the film suggests, only need to be blissfully dumb like Gump to be happy. That he is shown to play such a large part in American history seems to speak less about his own remarkable life and instead trivializes important events.

    Wake in Fright

In a word, harrowing. Probably one of the scariest films you've ever seen that doesn't really qualify as horror, this Australian-shot classic is an oppressive tale of a traveling teacher who gets stuck in a dingy and depressing mining town when he drunkenly gambles away his paycheck. Gary Bond's luckless teacher is drawn into a intensely vulgar culture of binge drinking and brutal masculinity that culminates in a (purposely) unsettling kangaroo hunt, his life turned into an unending nightmare from…
