Pate Duncan’s review published on Letterboxd:
Perfect. Comfort watch. Talky, witty comedies are really special to me because they present a specific, unified comedic sensibility. There’s a whole world where the kind of random unnatural things the people in these films say is somewhat justified. It’s a lovely mode of filmmaking and I always feel so touched by it. It’s a kind film that acknowledges how unpleasant we can be, but how worthy of redemption and patience and kindness we all are. Reminds you to be a bit more understanding of your friends, especially those who have been a bit alienated or standoffish in these recent months during the pandemic. Gotta move forward with boundaries where you need them and kindness as much as you can spare it.
God bless Whit Stillman.
