What a fun new Invader Zim movie. While staying faithful to the original, this film can stand on its own, and is a fantastic use of 70 minutes. The art style is amazing, and the comedy is impeccable. While its plot is simple in nature, the addition of legitimate stakes into the Invader Zim silliness is a breath of fresh air. I particularly love the collapsing of the universes near the end (reminded me of Spiderverse in that sense); its something refreshing to see in animation.
Reliving my childhood through a film that doesn't bastardize the original is pleasing to say the least. The only real problem I have with the film is its simplicity, and understanding that nostalgia is one of the things that will heavily influence your watching of this film.
