Dave’s review published on Letterboxd:
I didn't care for this one when I saw it upon initial release. For this Pixar snob, this film was a typical Dreamworks effort -- loud, brash, forgoing interesting story beats for action, etc. It just didn't work for me.
8 years later, I revisited it with my family and I'm happy to say I've softened up a bit. It still caters for the younger crowd (whereas I find most Pixar films appeal to adults just as much as the tykes), but the voice cast is aces (particularly the great Dustin Hoffman) and its message is lovely and timeless.
