The Curse of Frankenstein

The Curse of Frankenstein ★★½

You know maybe Hammer films aren’t for me.

This time around we do have the positive of an absence of the pro-colonial themes the remake of The Mummy retained, although theres marriage between cousins this time so win some, lose some.

Christopher Lee does a good job of enacting the mannerisms of the iconic creature, however the design of his version, specifically the makeup and hair, look quite silly, especially when compared to Boris Karloff’s superior portrayal.

The film also fails to conjure something resembling the atmosphere of James Whale’s original.

Nothing terrible, but nothing great.
