Greener Grass ★★★★

"You'll see on the right side of your worksheet a list of the six most common causes of death on the frontier. And on the left side, six blank spaces for you to fill in your closest family members. I want you to take your markers and connect each of your loved ones to the way you imagine they would die."

"Should we include ourselves?"

"Yes."

The finer lines of satire well-balanced, Greener Grass is the suburban nightmare at its most deluded. The concept itself might not be new, what with its odd priorities and fixations on image, but where too many miss the minimum on absurdity (or go too far out of arrogance), Greener Grass finds the rare position of nearly convincing this bird viewer that this is how movies have always been.

I am certain that I will soon wake up, and not only will this film not exist, but neither will my review, my profile, and the concept of puffins in general. All I'll have left is my bed, my dreams, and the third studio album by Canadian indie rock band Arcade Fire, released on August 2, 2010. You know, the essentials.

A comedy for your heart, a horror for your teeth.
