Two words to describe “Birds of Prey,” : Fun and chaotic. The film is full of what you expect out of Harley Quinn herself which is the better, silly madness without overdoing the comedic relief. I was surprised to see there were no slow moments and action packed almost every scene. It also introduced the new characters without overloading information for people who aren’t familiar with the source material. Lastly, the R rating was very unnecessary. Even with the violence the film is PG-13 at best. I don’t even remember hearing much curse words.

The film proves Harley can stand not alone without Joker but alone.

A teen love story is a tale as old as time, unfortunately this one still couldn’t be saved from lazy writing, bad acting and being bored to tears instead of tears of joy.

Despite being a remake, I was pleasantly surprised how original and hilarious this film was. Not a single part taken too seriously and that’s what makes it perfect. The ability to incorporate small parts of Black culture while not encroaching upon hyper-visibility cliche tropes gave it a slight edge.
Marsai is a force that we’ve yet to see the full potential of and Regina in comedies go together like red beans & rice.
