• Universal Soldier: Regeneration

    Universal Soldier: Regeneration

    ★★

I thought people liked this one, I was so disappointed lol. JCVD and Dolph are on the cover but JCVD takes forever to show up and Dolph is in it even less.

I did like their fight though, it was just too short!

At least now I can watch the one with Scott Adkins

  • Josie and the Pussycats

    Josie and the Pussycats

    ★★★★

One of those movies where I turned it on and went “oh shit is this movie why I say that like that??” over and over again

I loved this movie in middle school, and thought I didn’t remember much of it, but then slowly realized in horror that I knew absolutely every scene from this movie 🤣

And I definitely knew all the words to “3 Small Words” and “Pretend to be Nice” (both are bangers)

    Anyways it’s funny, the leads…

  • Venom: Let There Be Carnage

    Venom: Let There Be Carnage

    ★★★½

I still can’t believe that this version of Venom exists and I love how ridiculous that is lol

I laugh at absolutely everything Venom says even when all he’s saying is “it’s AAANNNEEE!!”

They sent Venom to a fucking rave because he was lonely, just amazing.

I didn’t really like anything in the movie outside of Venom and Eddie though lol

The one f bomb for the PG-13 rating was one of the best I’ve seen in ages, particularly because I hate the “you’re just like me” villain trope 👌🏻

    “Don’t fuck with the original.”

  • Showdown in Little Tokyo

    Showdown in Little Tokyo

    ★★★★★

This movie is 78 min long, Dolph Lundgren’s giant cock is a plot point, and Brandon Lee says “you have the right to be DEAD”

    It’s a perfect movie

  • Dune

    Dune

    ★★★★

Going in I felt like making a Dune movie was a pretty impossible task, but I actually really liked and vibed with this movie! I’m glad I saw it in a theater, it was gorgeous. I also think that with how quietly paced the movie is that watching it in a theater helps engross you in the world, which felt like what this movie was going for.

I cannot imagine the amount of work that went into creating these sets,…

  • Nang Nak

    Nang Nak

    ★★★½

More of a sad ghost drama than a spooky ghost movie, but I thought this was a lovely and moving telling of the Mae Nak Phra Khanong folk tale.

The scene where Mak sees through the illusion is 💯

  • Accident Man

    Accident Man

    ★★★½

Super slick and fun, great action, fun characters, and a delightful cast.

You get not one but TWO fights between Adkins and the team of Michael Jai White and Ray Park, and that’s the good shit right there. Also love to see Ray Stevenson in anything, always a blast.

Which is why it sucks so fucking much that this movie is so casually misogynistic? They’re throwing around a LOT of “bitch” and “dyke”  and every female character is only discussed in relation to who they are or are not fucking. Women like action movies too, please stop doing this 🤗

  • Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning

    Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning

    ★★★★

The opening action scene is so effective, so brutal, it feels like a different series. After 4 movies of seeing the present day softer Kenshin—and more importantly the one who does not kill—seeing younger Kenshin absolutely slaughter anyone in his path makes for a sobering opening scene.

Takeru Satoh once again does so much character work just in his physical performance, and Tomoe’s haunted looks and quiet sadness make for a great combination.

The scenes in the snow accented by…

  • Legacy of Lies

    Legacy of Lies

    ★★

This failed to grab me and wasn’t very good, but sometimes you type “Scott Adkins” into Netflix and go with it

  • Silent Night

    Silent Night

    ★★½

I found the concept promising and enjoyed the dark humor early on, but by the end I found this movie under baked and muddled.

    Annabelle Wallis tho 🔥

  • Silent Night, Deadly Night III: Better Watch Out!

Silent Night, Deadly Night III: Better Watch Out!

    ★★½

A borderline insane shift for this slasher series?

After 2, Ricky (now Bill Mosely!) is in a coma and has a…brain dome??…on his head. So, naturally, a doctor is experimenting on a clairvoyant blind woman who is reaching out to Ricky in dreams. Ricky does not say “naughty”, not even once!

That being said I actually really liked the weirdo vibe of this movie and enjoyed the David Lynch cast of Eric Da Re, Richard Beymer, and Laura Herring. A truly bizarre shift for the series, but I wasn’t exactly taking the series seriously so I appreciate that they went for something weird!
