    Tabu is a stunning achievement in craft. Each cut has such immediate purpose, each shot so carefully constructed, that it becomes the most pure form of cinema. The poetic story of love, tragedy, and colonialism had my eyes glued to the screen from the playfully innocent opening to the heartbreaking finale.
