Part of the journey is the end
Imagine the best version of Avengers: Endgame possible. Now double that and think of everything you've ever seen in an MCU film. The result is easily the strongest and most effective entry in the entire series thus far. Considering the hype surrounding this film the whole thing could've easily crashed and burned but instead, what we get is the most satisfying experience possible. Not only does this film answer basically every question you’ve had regarding this universe but it closes out definitive in a way that is far more emotional then you’re expecting. Much of this is due to the film’s 3-hour runtime which is able to tell the most complete and effective story possible. One that is so perfect and complete that shaving or adding anything wouldn’t give it nearly the same impact.
By this strategy, the film is able to tell a story that feels so much more vital and bleak than anything that has come over. Moments that honestly evoke that of The Leftovers especially during this film’s first act which is the most non-superhero film you’ll ever see. What is normally dominated by heroic action sequences is replaced with a far more human feel to it. This may bother some but it is all made up for in the film’s third act which may just be the greatest action setpiece you will ever see seriously it is unlike anything that has been captured before.
Factor in the stellar performances from the entire cast (Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and Jeremy Renner specifically) the extremely powerful score, Some absolutely hysterical moments and years of build-up and we have a film that is nothing short of a masterful achievement in cinema.
Similar to films like Return of the King, Avengers: Endgame is the culmination of this infinity saga we’ve all been endlessly clamoring for. Yes, the series is going to go on from here but without spoiling it this is the end of some of our favorite characters and trust me it’s an end that is well deserved for sure. This film exceeded my expectations in I ever could’ve imagined.
It’s shocking, it’s heartbreaking, it’s emotional, it’s hilarious, it’s riveting but above all, it’s a satisfying entry that we’ll all be talking about for years and one that is destined to become an instant classic and is every reason why I adore film in the way I do.
