Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

My Girlfriend Watches All of the Star Wars Movies for the First Time (Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens):

For the longest time, The Force Awakens was my favorite movie. As a long time Star Wars fan, this was the first one I was old enough to fully appreciate and understand in the theater. I still think it’s one of the most endlessly rewatch-able and enjoyable movies I’ve ever seen, and I’m glad that my girlfriend felt the same!

The only two she has ranked higher than it are Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the Sith. I asked her about it and she said she loves the conclusions because it’s the culmination of everything we’ve been watching the past two movies. We’ll see if she feels the same about Rise of Skywalker...

Overall Plot (4/5):
Her: “It was a bit predictable.”
Me: “It’s a big issue that people have, where they think this one is too similar to A New Hope.”
Her: “I think that’s the point though, to show that kids go through the same problems their parents do.”

“How many times are they going to shoot the center of a weapon to make it explode? It seems like it’s been a lot...”

She did really like how they used both the old and new characters together.

Characters (5/5):
She was going to give characters a 4/5 then remembered how cute BB-8 was and gave it a 5.

“I liked that Finn had a good arc from being different from the other stormtroopers. That’s one question I always had from the first ones: who are the stormtroopers and why are they doing that?”

“Rey was very independent and a lot like Princess Leia.”

She didn’t see it coming at all that Kylo Ren was related to Han and Leia.

Action (5/5):
She thought the flying scenes were a lot better in this one than all of the others.

“I like how good of a pilot Rey is and how she worked with Han Solo.”

“I’m glad they closed the door on those giant octopuses arms because they were scary, and it shows they can use their surroundings and not just rely on weapons.”

Comedy (2/5):
“You can tell it was a newer movie because the jokes were very forced...”

“Finn had some pretty corny lines.”

I personally think this one is one of my favorites for comedy, so I’m surprised she put it so low!

Favorite Scene:
“BB-8 was so sad when he thought his master was dead, so I was so happy when he came back.”

Least Favorite Scene:
“When Han Solo grabs his son’s face before he dies...too sad...”
