• The Devil-Doll

    The Devil-Doll

    ★★★½

Now I know where Robin Williams got his inspiration for Mrs. Doubtfire.

  • Last Rites

    Last Rites

    ★★

Very low budget vampire flick from the early 80s that finds Dracula living as a small town mortician (A. Lucard). Had some interesting ideas but not much to sustain the 85 min running time.

  • Samurai Cop

    Samurai Cop

So bad it’s good cinema at its finest.

  • The Godsend

    The Godsend

    ★★★

Decent creepy killer kid movie with cool score and Village of the Damned vibes. Great performance by Angela Pleasance as the Stranger.

  • Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films

Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films

    ★★★★

Excellent documentary about Cannon with loads of interviews. Made me realize just how many of their films I still need to see...

  • It Happened One Night

    It Happened One Night

    ★★★★★

Brilliant romantic comedy from the pre-code era. I loved the chemistry between Gable and Colbert, and you could definitely see this movie being influential for many films that followed. One strange reference I thought of while watching is Spaceballs. You could totally draw a comparison between Peter & Ellen and Lone Star and Princess Vespa!

  • Jack Frost

    Jack Frost

While it does have some bizarre LOL moments and b-movie plot devices, this movie is just not a fun watch. So much bad acting and dumb scenes. And I was constantly perplexed when the residents of Snomonton (snowman town, get it?) we’re shocked to see, yup, SNOWMEN  ⛄️ in their yards or throughout the town.

I remember seeing this VHS at my local video store in the 90s. Along with the Uncle Sam movie, it had this awesome lenticular cover. I would definitely give that a higher rating than this movie.

...But is the Michael Keaton movie any better??

  • Christmas Evil

    Christmas Evil

    ★★★★

Not your typical Christmas movie, or slasher for that matter, Christmas Evil is more a tragedy. It follows the sad journey of a Christmas-obsessed man disenchanted by the world around him. At times absurd, and others touching, this is well worth a watch!

  • New Year's Evil

    New Year's Evil

    ★★½

Pretty mediocre slasher but decent enough for a late night horror romp. The title theme “New Year’s Evil” by Shadow might be the best part of this movie! 🤘🏻

  • Gremlins: A Puppet Story

    Gremlins: A Puppet Story

    ★★★★

Really cool behind-the-scenes look at the puppets and some production for Gremlins all narrated by Chris Walas. Fun for fans of the movie.

  • The Lodge

    The Lodge

    ★★

I gave these directors a second chance after kinda hating Goodnight Mommy, and still disappointed. There’s such a waste of atmosphere here. Visually arresting imagery but lack of story and anyone to root for.

  • Lady in White

    Lady in White

    ★★½

Hallmark drama meets eerie local legend. Wish they would have just gone with the latter.
