Mike Yoong’s review published on Letterboxd:
A snarky, bubblegum pop take on a very dark subject and by all means: it worked! So well! And Carey Mulligan is a damn revelation!!!
I struggled with scoring this as I was grappling with what the ending entailed, it left me completely bewildered (in a good way) and devastated. The bittersweet feeling is the point, we’re suppose to leave feeling slightly unsure and disappointed. That’s just how the world works.
That should’ve obvious from the film’s incredible casting that goes against type. This is a movie about the pain inflicted on these people. It might have this happy and revenge-thriller John Wick vibes layered on top of it but the imo ending perfectly emphasised the message it was going for: men sucks and they get away with shit way too easily
