On a quest to find films that make me feel a high I haven’t experienced yet or at least a sense of comfort that a human made it.
I’ll start off by saying that besides the first Saw film I do not like James Wan films. I think they’re dumb, not fun, way too dependent on jump scares, they tend to have that cheesy 00’s sheen that doesn’t seem to die and most importantly him & his company dominated horror during its worst years. So when a few ppl HIGHLY recommended this film and said it was the craziest thing they’ve seen in years, I was intrigued but mostly…
Things that stuck to me the most on this watch:
-The physicality of all of the performances. The actors all seemed like (ironically) superheroes in their ability to float across the screen. At times a simple punch will destroy half the bar. It’s amazing that De Niro didn’t do more physical comedy, his movement in this film is so free & loose. I can’t think of a film nowadays that even comes close to this.
-Keitel as Marty’s avatar was great…
