A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 pulls off an Exorcist III by being a pretty good, scary and funny third entry set in a psych ward in a franchise with a fantastic debut and a horrid follow-up. Heather Langenkamp, Craig Wasson, John Saxon and Patricia Arquette are very good here and stand in equal footing to Robert Englund's scary and wise-cracking Krueger.

The fact I've seen this film so many times yet that Brachiosaurus reveal with the iconic line still sends shivers down my body and puts a smile on my face is a testament to the "movie magic" for the ages that Spielberg created.

Worth watching for the pure-gold dialogue alone. I feel sorry for the moms and dads who'll go see this picture and come out wondering if their little girls are all a bunch of hoes. I think it reflects the state of our society, unfortunately.

Toni Collette dancing to "More Than This" by Roxy Music might be the highest filmic achievement this year.

But seriously, what an amazing film full of twists and turns, constantly subverting your expectations. This, ladies and gentlemen, is filmmaking.
