Just because it’s minimalist, that doesn’t mean it isn’t also aesthetically simplistic. Just because it’s accurate, that doesn’t mean it isn’t also narratively slight. I heard someone describe this as “a Chantal Akerman horror film” and I wish that had been the movie I watched. Still, the scene with Mathew Macfadyen as the world’s most insidiously evil HR manager is great. This probably should’ve been a short.
