Michael Glover Smith’s review published on Letterboxd:
I was so moved by the emotional honesty of this incredible film that I spontaneously burst into tears during the final scene. Also, the best thing that can be said about the cinematography is that it is “functional.” And yet the cinematography is also perfect. Sadly, it would be virtually impossible to convince a cinematographer in the independent American film scene today to shoot a film that looks like this - even though, theoretically, it should be easier to do using digital technology. What else can I say? I love Melanie Mayron, and her character, the indomitable Susan Weinblatt, is one of the most indelible in the history of cinema.
