Meg’s review published on Letterboxd:
Keanu playing John Constantine as a man who is not cynical, so much as disappointed; a man who hopes, but is too hurt to speak it out loud--well, that is a model for how we can and should appreciate this film.
Love it. It is good.
To love it is not irony. We don't have to laugh and be cynical about things we enjoy. To make an effort and enjoy the effort others have made is good.
Also, when, Constantine cries out to God in desperation at the end, "I know I'm not one of your favorites. I'm not even welcome in your house. But, I could use a little attention" my friend (watching for the first time) turned to me and said extremely earnestly, "If I was God, I would help Constantine."
