Mulholland Drive

Mulholland Drive ★★★★★

Mulholland Drive is one of a kind. It's a movie that still has me scratching my head at what just happened. I do have some grasp of what happened though. David Lynch is a director that knows how to perfectly mix the surreal with some real life issues and themes. Lynch takes us on a twisted journey behind Hollywood with this terrifying, funny and mind bending thriller. Putting aside all the bizarreness that happens in this movie, Mulholland Drive is a movie that plainly criticizes Hollywood. In a rather strange David Lynch fashion that is. It's a film about dreams. The contrast between them and reality. This is where the movie gets weird, but it ultimately works with the themes of the film. David Lynch shows how dreams play with reality and vice versa.

Naomi Watts and Laura Harring give some incredible performances as they both share a lot of chemistry. And not to forget Justin Theroux's great performance. What's amazing about this movie is the way it ultimately changes everything near the end. It changes everything about the characters we've known so far and the reality of things. David Lynch makes this movie a fascinating maze that's always fun to think about.
