Promising Young Woman

Promising Young Woman ★★★★½

Can you guess what every woman’s worst nightmare is?

That line give my shivers down my spine.

This will be the most controversial film of the year. It’s dark at times, it’s uncomfortable to watch at times. This film crosses few genres for a excellent viewing.

Carey Mulligan plays Cassie, the woman, who has been riddled with trauma of the sexual assault  which happened to her friend and knowing that the people involved are living without consequences and seeks out vengeance. She plays the main character in such a powerful way. At times I even felt scared of her. She can go from smiling to be an psychopath in matter of seconds.

The 3rd act was so tense. After a certain moment is revealed, everything was just phenomenal. The score, the editing, Mulligan. I didn’t expect the ending to go like it did. I’m happier that it did have this ending.

Director and writer Emerald Fennell’s feature film debut is shocking with dealing with the subject matter that is on hand, and turns it into a experience.
