a masterclass in body language and dialogue-less communication. Akerman is wonderfully compassionate towards her subject and respectful to her audience, trusting them to have the knowledge to understand why it’s so long and repetitive and the patience needed to get to the big payoff. and it’s not really till the last hour where the exhaustion of it all really hits (and the last 10 minutes where you get the payoff), so it requires a lot of patience. the stillness of it all is fascinating, forcing you to absorb every square inch of each frame and study every movement, whether it be as large as a new chore or as small as a change in facial affect. exhausting in all the right ways.
