    Did you know that this one was a remake of a MUCH darker 1992 film that was buried by Universal when they bought the rights? Me neither, and when I found out, I tipped off Simon Brew who then did an episode of the Film Stories podcast about it, if you're interested.

    This is the first time I've seen it since learning this, and while there are funny bits in this... good grief, it feels properly wrenched into the middle-of-the-road territory it occupies, and sets the trajectory for the even more forced sequels while it's at it.
