This might be the best Christmas movie ever made? It does comedy well, drama well, fantasy well, and theme well. There’s something for everyone and all of it is executed just phenomenally. Also, Jon Favraue one of the most versatile directors of all time?

Nothing like watching it for the first time, but definitely a rewarding rewatch. It is just so alive. I feel like I can smell it.

Like food for the soul, especially on a rainy day. This film keeps on giving. Full of thoughtfully crafted images, compelling story/performances, and an underlying message that I haven’t fully wrapped my head around but can’t help but think “acceptance.” It’s not perfect, but it never fails to be honest, which is most important.

Also, gotta be one of the greatest first features from a director in the past decade, at least.

Finally watched this. Wow. It was in TV format but it honestly kind of added to the nostalgia of it. Not sure how I’ve claimed to be a Fincher fan for so long and not seen this, it’s dang-near perfect in my eyes. Easily in my top 5 of his. Also, absolutely stunning visually. Every shot is so perfectly crafted and intentional, I feel like I just went to film school on how to do proper exposition and create suspense/tension.

Gonna go buy the criterion edition now...

Just rewatched this movie and forgot how much I missed all the bonus features you used to get on a single DVD.

Also forgot how much of an impact this film had on all action films afterwards. It feels like every action/spy movie now revolves around what is the coolest hand to hand fight scene can we choreograph. Also reveals why it’s important that your action hero be sympathetic and how to handle a romantic relationship amidst an action flick.
