"So why do you shop at night, then?"
    "People wind me up."
    "How?"
    "They're ignorant."

The Female has been expressly designed to entice and lure males of the target species, delivering them to be harvested for their meat. She's tracked by an ever-lurking handler, who monitors her for aberrant personality growth and acts as a deterrent against attempts to deviate from her prescribed role. Her body autonomy was revoked before she was born but this isn't considered to be an…

Goddamn me for letting the negative reactions scare me off from this when it first released! I had a hunch all along I might actually be into it and I'm just glad I randomly happened to select it tonight because that hunch was correct and Horse Girl ended up feeling almost like it was made especially for me!

I blessedly do not suffer mental ailments anywhere near as severe as poor Sarah here but I am juuuust weird and awkward…

Mehhhhhhh. The synopsis and marketing write a check the actual product can't cash. The strong first episode sets up a basic but promising revenge tale of a young female director trying to even the score against a predatory producer but we take so many ridiculous twists and turns along the path that you don't even care that much by the time you finally get to the messy, lackluster payoff. There's a metric shit ton of body horror stuff which should…

"I'm a strong tree with branches for many birds. I'm good for something in this world, and I know it too."

Rough around the edges (often melodramatic, some of the child acting is less than stellar, a few weird cuts, cheap effects, and sync issues) but all sins are forgiven mostly thanks to an unforgettable performance from Robert Mitchum. Dude was seriously at the top of his game here, he would later remark that this was his favorite role and…
