1971 In Review - January
The arrival of a mail-order pistol triggers two friends into a life of crime in an 1870s frontier town.
1971 continues to amaze with the sheer variety of interesting movies. Zachariah is the first western I have ever seen where after a deadly gunfight, the victor then proceeds to sit down at a drum kit and play an amazing two minute drum solo!!! Zachariah dubs itself as the first ever electric western, well it certainly is that. It has rock music and cowboys walk around casually with guitars around their shoulder as if they are guns.
The movie is a lot of fun and features an incredibly young Don Johnson. The pacing is slow and the plot a little all over the place but I had a good time with it.
I have never seen anything like it, that’s for sure.
