A Quartet of Carax - Un

Disclaimer: Carax films make me write. Hard.

EXPOSITION: Another film influenced by Godard that I like more than any Godard film. Leos Carax's Mauvais Sang is a postmodern reflection of many themes including (but not exclusively) love, youth, crime, sex, life, and magic.

A dream. You always leave after when she's the most beautiful. The onscreen glass becomes mirrors and windows more often than they don't. Music becomes the movement. Poetry in motion, lyrics…

    Sci-fi/Fantasy 6 — End of Genre

Director’s Cut (first time viewing of this cut)

I don’t know if he will ever top this. Everything about this works for me. From the production design to the visuals (H.R. Sci-fi/Fantasy 5

    Extended Edition

This version is a bit long in the tooth, but the extra character moments were worth it.

A crowd pleasing, funny, smart, and rousing Ridley feature. Nothing too special or risky about it, but have to respect a film with Gambino and Jeff Daniels.

He's a master. This is one of his masterworks. Easily the best film of the year, and easily top 5 of his features. This just needs a rewatch for the 5 stars. I loved every minute of this. Every ounce of humor, every crumb of pain, and every sense of gangster-style remorse. This was perfect. Thank you for not letting me down, Marty.
