Jordan Peele’s Get Out was one of the most arresting and well-executed horror films in recent years and he captivated my attention instantly as a filmmaker. Us quickly became my most anticipated horror film of 2019 and one of my most anticipated in general.
From the opening sequence alone, I knew I was in for a high-class horror thrill ride and those first 30 minutes are practically film perfection.
The concept is incredibly bonkers and very much something you’d see in The Twilight Zone and it instantly permits Peele to craft a film unlike any other. Whether you hate or love this film, you can’t deny the exclusiveness it manages to pull off.
Lupita Nyong’o pulls off one of her best performances and what is a foreseeable Oscar caliber endeavor. All actors did amazing at portraying their regular “humane” self and their respective doppelgängers.
It’s creepy in the right moments, surprisingly funny in a fantastic blend and it really takes you on a wild ride with many twists, some you might see coming, others you wouldn’t even be able to guess.
Perfectly shot, lit and framed as well. Peele has become a master of set-up and buildup. The first 2 acts did so well at edging towards that third fantastic act.
I’m so in love with this movie if it wasn’t obvious, also, it’s been a while since I’ve seen a film that’s made me so desperate for a second viewing.
Also one of the best musical scores my ears have ever witnessed, that is all.
