Dragged Across Concrete ★★★★½

Second viewing and I found this just as absorbing as the first time, despite the world's shittiest audience who hur-hurred every bit of harrowing violence and racist dialog like it was a throwaway punchline. I doubt empathy is high up there in Zahler's list of cinematic intentions but goddamn he manages to wring out feeling for almost all of these characters and make you feel the weight of the film's brutality, even in this heightened pulp world where everyone speaks with a lyrical bent. Consider me a big fan.
