London’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is, quite literally, the dullest anime film I have ever seen. I remember InuYasha very fondly, at least I DID before the movie, but both the films I have watched thus far have been bad. However, when comparing the first and the second, the first seems like a fucking masterpiece. It was actually hard to get through this movie, and I watch so much garbage.
The animation was OKAY at times, but it didn't help to bring life to the awful story line or bad characters. As I become more accustomed to InuYasha once again, I am also reminded that characters as a whole, aren't well written. So having them be the basis of a 100 minute film should be a crime. None of them can hold their own for that long. In addition to that the villains, both new and returning, just aren't very interesting. The main antagonist has a decent visual design, but that's all they have going for them. The introduced villain, Kaguya, is awful. I don't like her design and I don't like her personality. I don't like anything in this movie.
The film attempts to become stronger in the last fifteen minutes, but that excitement only really lasts for a few minutes. It doesn't save the film from being bottom of the barrel trash. If anything it just makes the surrounding film feel even worse. InuYasha Movie 1, I'm so sorry for thinking you were going to be the worst movie in the series. I shouldn't have tested fate. I have suffered for my error in judgement, and I only pray to the gods the other two InuYasha films don't fill me with such undying rage and boredom.
