Thought I’d posted some quick words on this when I saw the screening, I absolutely LOVED IT!!! Here’s my longform review instead... that I did for flushthefashion.com

‘Look at those flames, lightin’ up the sky’…

In 1964 well renowned Canadian communication theorist Marshall McLuhan coined the phrase ‘The medium is the message’, where he presented the concept that the choice of how to distribute a message, can be more important than the message itself. That isn’t to negate or lessen…

Thankfully reviewing screenings are still happening, & after some tech glitches, I finally saw #TheFather Hands down the best thing Hopkins has ever done, to a devastating level. I’ve also never seen anything like it before, phenomenal storytelling all round. Quite an upsetting/traumatic experience watching it, by design obviously, & at times reminded me of horror movies, which has to be what having Alzheimer’s is like, living in a real life horror.

Can’t recommend it enough, it’s one of the most affecting…

Blade Runner (1982) was effectively the blueprint for the pyramid, Blade Runner 2049, is the pyramid. It's MAGNIFICENT!!!

The original is still may fav of all time, and that's probably not going to change, but in a great many ways, this is a technically better movie. It deserves to be seen on the biggest screen possible, with the best sound possible, as many times as possible.

At some point this won't be showing in the cinema anymore, and you will regret not having gone to it. It's a true cinematic and emotional experience.

Though, if you don't like slow movies, you'll HATE it.

Just out of a screening & this is what I immediately posted...

Labelled a ‘whodunnit’, but it’s 100% @rianjohnson who did it, & every other whodunnit who didn’tactuallydoitatall. A STUNNINGLY written/intelligent/clever/ridiculous fun movie. An absolute head spinning delight, with outrageously great performances all round. #KnivesOutMovie
