    This is an effectively simple romantic film, enrichened by its frequent use of a swoony theme song and beautiful, but lonely rural Chinese landscapes. These convey the beauty and hope of being lovesick. The framing device also lovingly honors this pure love story along with the impact a person can have on their community.

    Well-told morality play akin to 12 Angry Men. It is still easy for most societies to scapegoat people from racial minorities and those with mental illnesses and/or to respond to social sicknesses by blaming and reprimanding individuals without really getting all the facts straight first.
