    But I'm a Cheerleader

The way I see it, this whole film takes place inside Megan’s head, it’s her internal dialogue whilst she deals with the realisation that she is a lesbian. Each of the characters at the boot camp represents a different queer stereotype that exists in her mind. It’s all one big metaphor.

Is the acting great? No. But it’s a brilliant film that reflects the adolescent queer experience very well, with great cinematography and Natasha Lyonne... so what more could you want?

Also, equating being a vegetarian and eating tofu to being queer... genius.

  • Lilo & Stitch

    Lilo & Stitch

A bloody lovely film - captivating narrative that explores true human flaw unlike no other Disney film. The demonstration of the power of sibling relationships makes this film truly heartwarming and is probably why it is one of mine and my sister’s favourite films. We’d watch it daily in our shared bedroom and I have v fond memories attached to it.

The animation style is so pretty and each shot could be a picture on a vintage 50s postcard.

I don’t know who was more of a queer awakening for me as a kid, Bubbles or Pleakly 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
