Alex Leonce’s review published on Letterboxd:
Barry Jenkins sure fucking knows his visual, and artistic language.
The Underground Railroad is hours of heavy, yet utterly beautiful artistry and historical importance. The ultimate trio, Jenkins, Brittell with another brilliant score) and Laxton (top-tier DP), crafted a true gem worth viewing.
Every single shot is stunning to behold, it's like a painting. I also love how each episode is structured for Cora's journey to have ups and downs, in each state.
The cast is flat out exceptional, but Thuso Mbedu and Joel Edgerton are utterly top-notch, as you become heavily intrigued with their characters.
Without a doubt, the best thing I've witnessed in 2021, so far.
