Cory’s review published on Letterboxd:
I'm glad I decided early on to shut off the critical thinking part of my brain and watched it purely for the spectacle.
Beyond some well executed action sequences coupled with incredible cinematography, it's a rather empty and emotionless ride. I never felt the stakes were existent or even believable. I wish Nolan gave the viewer a bit more to chew on with his characters/universe, rather than throwing you in the deep end right from the get-go.
I'm not asking to be spoon-fed a movie, but giving characters even the slightest emotional depth/growth goes a long way for me. This felt more like a hodgepodge of his past concepts than anything else. A technically brilliant action flick, but I really wanted to dig this one more than I did.
