    As soon as Robert Walker's Joe emerges from the train station and is overwhelmed by the NYC skyscrapers, which happens in the first few minutes, I knew this was going to be a special film. Despite a plot that sounds like typical tinseltown fare, THE CLOCK eschews cliche and delivers what may be the loveliest classic Hollywood film I've seen.

    Fun for a non-horror viewer like me. An homage to Hitchcock with a great score by Bernard Herrmann. Margot Kidder plays a French Canadian woman who has a crazy sister prone to fits of rage. Or does she?

    So did he kill the boy or did he imagine he killed the boy? Or is he the boy?

    After that, the dinner scene was the most disturbing. I was squirming in my seat.

    I spent a lot of time during the film thinking that Max von Sydow is a gift to Bergman and subsequently to all of us. Has there ever been a better film actor?

    I may add this to my list of perfect films, which I define as not necessarily masterpieces or innovative, but films that tell a particular story as well as it can be told.
