The Good, the Bad and the Beautiful ★★★

A deliciously nasty grindhouse melodrama, a Peyton Place turned cancerous by the roughie tumor growing in its chest. Stark and shadowy in that second-hard Sarno way, with an autumnal wood in November providing a dirty organic rot wholly different yet no less effective than its city-set cousins. Do you want the family man or do you want the swingin' man?
