Tenet

Tenet

Very early on I succumbed to not understanding the plot in its entirety and that was definitely the play. In its vaguest form I found it pretty moving in a particular way that I feel Nolan does a lot at his best but may not intend. The idea of people (specifically Debicki, Branagh, and Washington) moving through this confusing, overwhelming, so-much-information world but acting on emotional logic (her fighting to raise her son, Branagh’s drive to die at peace, etc.) is quite compelling. I feel Nolan backs away from this hook ever so slightly by shooting it in such a clinical way (as opposed to, say, Michael Mann or Tony Scott), but his style is still very exciting to watch. Need to let it sit but this might be his best movie
