EXCITED TO SAY I SAW THIS AT A MOVIE THEATRE!! It was a drive-in, but still!! I've never been to a drive-in, and here's what I learned:
-Bring a reliable radio
-The movie won't start until like an hour after they say it will. But it's okay
-Bugs! They're back
As for this film, it's still so great! I realized with this watch how important its sound design is, as I was relying on the sound from nearby car radios the entire time and it was a little lacking. I love it though, and I think it's elevated above its logic issues by some really excellent filmmaking. There is such conviction in the way shots are framed and the special effects are carried out--it makes Elizabeth Moss fighting with air feel intense and consequential, not a lot of room is left for doubt. I really love Moss' performance, as well as the way that the film holds its roots in emotionally manipulative relationships. It is so, so frustrating to watch and then has maybe one of the most satisfying endings ever. Fuck abusers!
