• An American Pickle

    An American Pickle

Didn't have high expectations with the concept of this film and still left feeling a little disappointed. The film starts off feeling like a less funny Borat with Seth Rogan playing not 1 but 2 characters annnnd that's the film. It got some laughs out of me and some eye rolls, as a whole it wasn't terrible but it just felt like a mashup of other ideas and films but not executed as well as any of those films it was inspired by. Worth watching if your rolling up at 2am with nothing else on but dont expect top tier Seth Rogan.

  • The Mystery of D.B. Cooper

    The Mystery of D.B. Cooper

By no means a bad documentary, but when the entire subject is an unsolved heist with seemingly so many rabbit holes you can go down it somewhat weakens the film despite having an extremely unique and interesting event it's building off of.

I mean the first couple theories had me interested but by the time I could no longer count them on one hand it seemingly was just weakening the other more likely stories with random anecdotes from people likely…

  • Persona: The Dark Truth Behind Personality Tests

Persona: The Dark Truth Behind Personality Tests

Teetering between a 3-3.5, its certainly an interesting documentary about a subject I wasnt very familiar with and somewhat changed my views.

As a young adult who grew up with technology, I've sort or always assumed the tests in the work place were used to sort out obviously flawe candidates, less a test of what you would really do in said situations but moreso do you have the sense to know what your company would want to hear. And i…

  • Shadows and Fog

    Shadows and Fog

Shadows and Fog is my first Woody Allen movie, and although theres not much of a plot or a ton of action in the movie, I actually really enjoyed most of this movie, specifically Woody in the starring role.

Perhaps its also thanks to the strong cast as well. A lot of familiar faces and although most of them dont have major roles and sort of just come and go, it keeps things entertaining and is fun to see. Film…

  • National Security

    National Security

Martin Lawrence somehow manages to be the worst part of his own movie. He swings so much that occasionally he hits, i cant deny he got a few laughs out of me, but when your trying that hard to be funny through the whole film, it comes off very unfunny. Often in National Security, Lawrence was less a likeable protagonist and more closely resembled an annoying younger sibling, being a nuisance to the people around him constantly, which was funny…

  • Thank You for Smoking

    Thank You for Smoking

An entertaining satirical look at the tobacco industry, specifically through the lens of our protagonist who is played perfectly by Aaron Eckhardt. The movie is written well and has no short of laughs through its 90ish minutes. Strong performances by Sam Elliot, Rob Lowr, and William Macy who all could of been in more scenes and Id have no complaint.

The dynamic between the father/son was done well, along with the other relationships in the film and the mod squad.…

  • Nightbreed

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Although its an interesting fantasy horror movie from the early 90s, I guess my biggest issue with Nightbreed is that it doesn't feel entirely focused, at least on my first watch.

Let me start by saying it wasn't at all what I was expecting. The only Clive Barker material I'm familiar with is Hellraiser, which happens to be one of my favorite all time horror movies (parts 1 though 3). So i was expecting terrifying horor, and to my surprise…

    The Hateful Eight

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

As a huge Tarantino fan it didn't take much to sell me on a film under his direction in a Western setting with many of the usual crew in starring roles. I can't say it disappointed, but it never really exceeded expectations either.

The first half of the film is slower, and honestly worked better in my opinion. It had to pick up eventually but the film sorta goes from zero to one hundred towards the end, and although thats…

  • Downhill

Short film that managed to drag, mainly due to a miscast Will Ferrell who i normally enjoy, and just a boring and scattered overall plot that never managed to deliver in any impactful way.

Julia dreyfus was the only highlight but not nearly enough to save the film. Never seen the original and can't say this movie made me want to, however its supposedly a hundred times better according to the reviews of this movie so do yourself a favor…
