The Grand Budapest Hotel

The Grand Budapest Hotel ★★★★½

Obviously, the film is gorgeous and a joy to watch. The visuals are incredible and very thoroughly immerse the audience inside the setting. The storytelling is very efficient as well. The way the plot is structured is remarkable and adds texture to the film, though it never becomes confusing or hard to follow. The characters are unique and have interesting dynamics, as well.

The film takes place in a kind of dream world as the layers of storytelling(and storytellers) fall into place. The style becomes increasingly bright and distinctive as reflections and recollections are romanticized.

Technically, pretty perfect, but didn’t appeal to me on an emotional level.
