The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was pretending that Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga were actually in this film
Was nice of Odeon to turn off the air-conditioning so I could truly feel like I was on Dune.
A visual spectacle to be sure, presented on a scale that is often hard to believe. Yet it is in favour of an often needlessly overcomplicated and emotionless narrative that while never boring, feels drawn out due to having no satisfying narrative finale. Could work much better as a double feature once the next installment (if it happens) releases.
Still, had to be seen on the biggest and loudest screen you can - just make sure it's not fucking boiling.
Overall had a good time with this! On paper this should be my worst nightmare and at some points it really is - scene near the end gave me a stroke.
Ryan Reynolds needs to pack this Deadpool bullshit in and get some range and Taika is absolutely horrendous, yet it manages to not indulge in video game references and just plays out as a solid adventure flick.
