Dune

Dune

Rewatched the extended cut of Dune, which I saw for the first time last year. Having both read the novel and seen Villeneuve's version, I still stand by this as being an alright adaptation. The world and lore itself is incredibly convoluted, and this cut has a horrendous exposition dump in the first 20 minutes that almost breaks everything. But once we are following the Atreides family, this ends up being rather faithful and compelling.

I do prefer the '80s aesthetic and slight camp of this to the more self-serious approach of the new version, also thanks to delightfully dated effects in some moments and a great score by Toto. Yeah, I like this film, even if it does remain the weakest from Lynch.
