    The Suicide Squad

After some well-documented personal drama in 2018, James Gunn didn't just bounce back, he bounced back with a motherfucking vengeance. Righting every wrong committed by 2016's bafflingly incoherent Suicide Squad, the new and improved The Suicide Squad isn't just better, it is arguably one of the greatest blockbusters ever made. Right off the bat, Gunn's film gets going with a beach raid reminiscent of Saving Private Ryan, followed by the most suitable opening titles song imaginable after what we just…

    Je, tu, il, elle

The reason I have fallen so madly in love with Chantal Akerman's work is the unparalleled understanding and empathy with which she handles mental illness, loneliness and malaise. Coming from Tarantino, I knew the film would be great, but I was in a terrible place mentally when it came out in 2015, and somewhat intimidated by the nearly three-hour runtime, I just never going around to it. To my surprise, this western epic might be Tarantino's very finest work. With the film being so heavily focused on dialogue, it is the…

    The Death of David Cronenberg

This is weirdly poignant, but I still don't know what the fuck an NFT is. Apparently they're bad for the environment? I thought it was just some Internet shit. I don't know. Anyway, new Cronenberg!
