"I just feel so alone, even when I'm surrounded by other people."
A lot more of a quiet and strangely relaxing film than I was anticipating. Captures the feeling of loneliness perfectly though; how you can be both content with it but also yearning for any kind of connection. I found Charlotte to be the slightly more relatable and interesting character but I like that we see two different perspectives of isolation and disconnection.
Looks great and I thought the music choices were really nice too. I didn't quite get as attached and emotionally affected by it as I thought I would and I guess that would be my only issue. The slightly problematic portrayal of Japan may bother people and whilst it did at times seem a bit odd I never found it necessarily offensive. Overall though I did really like this, that ending is real showstopper too isn't it?
