The Grand Budapest Hotel

The Grand Budapest Hotel ★★★★½

If you were to make a list of the best movie characters of the last decade, Monsieur Gustave H. would be obligated by law to be on it.

While this is not quite my personal favourite Wes Anderson movie, I do think it's the peak of his talent for direction: his unique style shines through here perfectly. No one but him could craft such a visually inviting film, seamlessly blending live action and what I can only assume is a clever use of stop-motion animation.

The writing is charming and funny as always and the story moves along at a great pace. The soundtrack is wonderful and this is without a doubt one of the best casts of all time.
