🇳🇬 Aspiring filmmaker.
Whilst,Queen and Slim explores an extremely important topic.It fails to deliver storywise.I found it quite boring. My main issues with it are as follows.
1. Tone shifts. I don't think Letitia Wright was the best candidate to write this movie. Great political satire. The story feels very close to home .The movie is impeccably scored and altogether has a great visuals. I wish female characters were more developed in this. It also felt like the movie didn't want to be bold enough to explore the love interest as that itself would be another story line further exploring the caste inequality.The movie is very direct in it's message,which altogether works in it's favor.No cheap metaphors were used and that was ultimately one of it's strongest suits. It's also quite funny.
Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoniette is a visually stunning movie.It takes a while to get used to its quirky/sarcastic tone but once you do,it becomes much more enjoyable.
The movie is meticulous in its craft from the awing costumes (courtesy of the talented Milena Canonero) to its depiction of French culture amongst royals and aristocrats.
I also appreciate the bold choice of music.It opts for alternative rock music than an expected classical soundtrack.This perfectly expresses how we are to see Marie…
