    Tense and violent thriller with career-best work from Bill Paxton as the eager but dumb police sheriff of a hick town who can never quite tell when people are laughing at him. A foolhardy act of courage leads to an unexpected moment of redemption. I only discovered it after I found it on Siskel and Ebert’s top films of 1992. I really want a Blu Ray release.

    Breakfast at Tiffany’s is a bit of an anomaly. It's a film that is frightened of its own material.

    The reasons are manifold. Capote (who wrote the novella) wanted Marilyn Monroe for the part of Holly Golightly; the weed-smoking alcoholic prostitute who has a casual affair with a gigolo writer.
