what an exhilarating masterpiece with amazing cinematography, truly brilliant performances from its two leads, and genuinely one of the best scripts i’ve witnessed for a hot minute.
daniel kaluuya is legitimately one of the best actors of our generation goddamn...the “i am...a revolutionary” speech is a MASTERCLASS
as an asian-american with immigrant parents, this hit way too close to me. the parents fighting, the financial problems, the strange looks at church...much too relatable even if i wasn’t raised in arkansas and i am not korean.
an excellent, almost perfect slice-of-life piece with brilliant performances, an understated score, and strong writing. probably my favorite of the year and a strong statement on the “american dream.” please watch
oop shame on me for expecting some dumb stoner comedy and actually being surprised when I got a dramatic character study on grief and mental health...MARISA TOMEI. jeez. i need her in more movies. PETE IS ALSO SO GOOD. overall, could have been shorter and tighter but a gr8 friday night movie
(watched w caitlin and jasmine)
