Somehow it managed to be even stranger and trippier than I expected. Watching it after only getting 4 hours sleep the night before was probably not the best idea, but it did add to the dream-like quality of it all. Especially liked the long, wordless sequence at the end. Need to see it again when I'm more awake.

Additional observation: I have read Sir Gawain and the Green Knight twice in an academic setting, once in 10th grade, another time in college. I have to wonder how people unfamiliar with the original will take to this film, as so little is explained or made explicit.

Don’t know how I feel about this one yet. Satisfying power fantasy moments, great performance from Mulligan, well shot, provocative at times, but in the end felt hollow. Provisional rating until I think about it s’more.

I imagine anyone who identifies as a creative/obsessive type will feel this the most; in some ways it felt like a more subtle & nuanced Inside Out (and with more relatable characters). If anything, I wish we'd spent more time with Joe in "the real world." Great score by Jon Baptiste and Ross/Reznor; really beautiful animation. Wish they'd cast a Black actor in Tina Fey's place to minimize the weirdness of [redacted moment] though.
