What a beautiful and sincere piece. I love these realist, dialogue-driven films. It lets you breathe along with its central characters, lets you move along its very calm and smooth rhythm. Very atmospheric and subtly haunting. Great stop motion animation. Just an all-around pleasant viewing. I don't think the writing is fantastic and I do feel like it plays out pretty safe, but I was having a good time watching it. It's not breaking any new ground with its ideas or themes, but it does what it does well.

What an energetic and exciting film. It's so full of personality and life, and is highly enjoyable. The setup wasn't the absolute strongest and I would've wanted just a bit more character development for Joe, a bit more depth to him. But that ending was honestly one of the best I've seen and did leave nothing but a good impression on me.

Another pretty fun and imaginative Hosoda picture. There's some very grand ideas present here. But as I have experienced before with Hosoda, the character development and themes get overshadowed by these big ideas. There are lots of cool stuff happening, but I fail to care about the characters or what it wants to say beyond what's there in plain sight.
